The winning Team with Baroness Hughes and Mike Gibson

Mike Gibson, Chair of the Property & Construction Committee, hosted the Annual Dinner of the Greater Manchester Chamber’s P&C Section at The Hilton Hotel, Deansgate.  At this event, Baroness Beverley Hughes of Stretford presented the Building of the Year Award to Manchester City Council for the Central Library which reopened in March after a £48m renovation and basement extension which preserves the historic character of the building whilst providing a library to meet today’s needs and those of future generations.

She also presented the Construction Apprentice of the Year Award to 25 year-old Stephen Timoney, a building maintenance, multi-trade repair and refurbishment apprentice with B4Box.  The event, attended by some 400 business people from across the city region, was a huge success and helped to raise £3,100 for the Charity 42nd Street which supports young people under stress in Manchester.
