Our two Directors, Chrissie and Mike Gibson, are both chartered town planners with many years of experience in both the public and private sectors.
Chrissie Gibson DipTP MRTPI FHEA MIPM FRSA
Chrissie is an expert, qualified and experienced trainer, having been a university lecturer in Manchester and Bristol for over 20 years. She has taught extensively across the UK, as well as in the USA, Ireland, Germany, Poland and Romania.
Chrissie is currently advising the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace in Warrington, to set up a social enterprise, The Resolution Training Company, to deliver training in conflict management for professionals.
She has written about regeneration in Manchester, and has delivered papers at many conferences. She has also published articles on student employability and employer partnerships.
Chrissie has worked for local authorities in the North West of England and South Wales, where she has been responsible for housing and retail policy research and implementing major regeneration projects and environmental programmes. Chrissie also delivers continuing professional workshops on community engagement for the Royal Town Planning Institute (in conjunction with Mind the Gap Research and Training).
Chrissie has appeared on the BBC One o’clock News, Radio Manchester and Five Live. She is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Town and City Management.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Mike Gibson BA(Hons) MCD MRTPI
Mike has over 23 years’ proven success in private planning consultancy, working with national housebuilders, multi-national and industrial companies, financial institutions, developers, retail and leisure operators, government departments, regeneration agencies, local authorities, healthcare trusts and private healthcare and education providers. He has also held senior posts with local authorities. He has a sound knowledge of the planning system – including the new ‘Localism’ and ‘Big Society’ agendas – and is aware of the political and economic influences which play an important part in the decision-making process.
Mike has secured planning permission and influenced the plan-making process in respect of a wide range of developments including town centre and mixed-use regeneration schemes, housing and employment developments, hospitals, schools and colleges.
Mike has a ‘let’s make it happen’ approach and aims to achieve success for clients by working to find innovative solutions to complex planning issues. He often works alongside other professionals, including architects, transport engineers, environmental consultants and commercial agents.
Mike has been a Member of the Property and Construction Committee of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce since 2005 and became Vice Chairman of the Committee in 2011. He is also Chair of its Policy Sub-Committee, with particular responsibility for commenting and advising on emerging policy on behalf of the Chamber.
